Join in a Scotland-wide walking event, with a choice of three walks in a relaxed, friendly group – and also a chance to try Nordic Walking
Every year, the Big Fit Walk campaign sees hundreds of organised walks taking place across Scotland, allowing people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of a short walk in a relaxed, friendly group.

The event aims to highlight how being part of our growing walking network can be great for social health as well as physical and mental wellbeing.

This year we have three routes of different lengths for you to choose from.

All routes are on good pavements and paths starting and ending at the Musselburgh East Community Learning Centre in Haddington Road.

Our Bronze walk should take about 30 minutes, Silver will be around 45 minutes and Gold walkers should expect to be out for about an hour.

For those who wish to, there will also be an opportunity to join in a short taster session for Nordic Walking!

Refreshments will be available when you return to the Centre after your walk.

Booking

There is no need to book in advance.

Registration for any of the walks and the Nordic Walking taster session, is from 9.30am on the day. Walks start at around 10 am.

Also at Walkfest ’23

In East Lothian, the Big Fit Walk is run by two local organisations, Ageing Well and Changes.

As part of Walkfest ’23, Ageing Well East Lothian are also running Health Walks in various places across the county. And Changes East Lothian are also organising the popular Ponder Wander in Musselburgh.
