Wheely Good Day Out!

at Whitekirk Hill

With Beach Wheelchairs and Beyond Boundaries East Lothian

10am to 4pm • Sunday 21st August

Your chance to explore the path network at Whitekirk Hill using all-terrain wheelchairs and specially adapted bikes …

All-terrain wheelchairs

Beach Wheelchairs, which usually operates from its bases at Portobello, Seton Sands and North Berwick, is bringing its x8 All Terrain Wheelchairs for you to try.

This will allow anyone with reduced mobility to explore the path network at Whitekirk Hill and experience this beautiful part of East Lothian that also affords fantastic views across the Forth and inland over the Lammermuirs and Pentlands.

Their volunteers will provide training on the x8 wheelchair and can accompany users for all or part of the walk, depending on experience and confidence levels.

The x8 is more than capable of coping with the differing terrains and is very supportive and rugged.

There is an accessible toilet at the site, but it is not a Changing Places toilet. There is a cafe that serves lunches and snacks. There is not a hoist at the site for transfers.

Adapted bikes

Beyond Boundaries East Lothian, which exists to encourage participation in outdoors activities among people who might face difficulties with getting involved, is bringing its adapted bikes for people to try. Friendly advice, tips and training will be on offer and participants will be able to explore the tracks and trails at Whitekirkhill.

Booking

Please note that it is best to book a slot in advance for the all-terrain wheelchairs.  Contact Beach Wheelchairs on 0300 111 2112 or email info@beachwheelchairs.org
