Come and explore the woods in Gifford, inject some creative mark-making into your walk, take home your sketches and a feeling of wellbeing at the end of the day! Sketch & Wander is an artist-curated experience (but no artistic ability is required!)
Sketch and Wander for Wellbeing walking workshops were designed and led by East Lothian artist Lynn Fraser (Fantoosh Sketching). You’ll be guided on how to notice, connect to and experience the small wonders of nature in a different way. All while being engaged in the surrounding landscape. No previous drawing experience is needed, this workshop is for everyone to express their creativity while enjoying sketching outside.
Sketching in nature is an active meditation, it calms an anxious mind.
You don’t have to be ‘good at art’ to enjoy this – it’s the process that matters. In a small group you will mark-make while wandering, regaining a connection and appreciation with the great outdoors, yourself and the group. All that’s asked is you give yourself permission to play!
The workshop will start with some warm up mark-making exercises, we’ll then walk and stop off to sketch things en route – engaging with our surroundings in different ways and slowly synching with the rhythm of nature.
Lynn will gently lead the group and will share tips and techniques along the way. All the materials you will need will be supplied on the day, and some berries and other gifts from Mother Nature may even be used to add colour to our work!
With thanks to the Haddington & Lammermuir Area Partnership.
