RNIB Welcome Walk

Musselburgh

Get outdoors, take some exercise and enjoy spending time with other people!

Date : Thursday August 29th

Time : 10.15 am

Meet : Fisherrow harbour

With : RNIB Scotland

THIS IS A gentle, flat walk on tarmac paths of less than a mile (around 1km) in length, starting at Fisherrow harbour. Assistance dogs are welcome.

Starting from the promenade entrance at Fisherrow harbour, we will walk along the coastal path, then over the footbridge crossing the river Esk and into Musselburgh High Street for a visit to a local café.

If you are still feeling fit, there will be the option to walk back to the harbour or you can return on a local bus.

The walk will take 30-40 minutes each way.

Background

RNIB established Welcome Walks in East Lothian when emerging from coronavirus lockdown. Many members of the blind and partially sighted community reported feeling socially isolated and having lost confidence.

The aim of these walks, which are led by Paths for All trained walk leaders and supported by RNIB volunteers, is to encourage people living with sight loss to get outdoors, take some exercise and enjoy spending time with other people.

The social aspect of these walks is as important as the physical benefits and all walks end at a café.

If you have sight loss or know someone who has, or you would like to volunteer with us, please get in touch – we would love to hear from you!
