A slow circular walk of Lochend woods to gather nettle stems to make your own cordage

With:  Wilder Outdoor Education

Join Diane of Wilder Outdoor Education for a slow circular walk through the woodland to explore the colours, smells and sounds of a late summer morning in the woods. Enjoy some mindful crafting, harvesting nettle stems to make your own natural cordage.

More information

Attendees should be comfortable to walk over uneven ground and be happy to sit on the woodland floor (kneeling/sit pad provided). Attendees are welcome to bring their own camping chair if preferred.

Well behaved dogs are allowed but they must be on lead at all times. Please do not bring your dog if it has a high drive as there are quite a number of deer in the woodland.

This event is suitable for adults age 16+.

There will be a basic pop up toilet tent available for your use and handwashing faciliities.

Cafe at Dunbar Garden Centre (10 minute walk away) or at Bleachingfield Community Centre (Ramshackle Cafe).

What to bring

Tea/Coffee and cake will be provided. Feel free to bring a water bottle/snacks. Please feel free to bring a packed lunch if you’d like to spend more time in the woods after the event.

Getting there

The Gathering Place is on the corner of Middlemass Road and Kellie Road, Dunbar. What3Words: ///seagull.kidney.passing

Please try to arrive on foot or by bicycle. Dunbar is well served by public transport – there is a bus stop on Spott Road, a 5 min walk from our meeting place. If driving, please park at Halhill Sports centre and avoid parking on Kellie Road.
