A gentle, all-ability guided walk around Amisfield Walled Garden
Date : Wednesday August 28th
Time : 11 am
Meet : Amisfield Walled Garden
TUCKED AWAY in dense woodland on the outskirts of Haddington in East Lothian lies an imposing 18th century walled garden that has been restored from an overgrown wilderness into a thriving and welcoming community garden.
At 8 acres in size, Amisfield Walled Garden is one of the largest walled kitchen gardens in Scotland, which has been restored over the past 25 years entirely by local volunteers.
Enjoy the beautiful planting and tranquillity of this hidden gem, whilst learning a little about the history of the garden and its current existence as an inclusive and vibrant community space.
With wide flat paths and no steps, this walk is suitable for wheelchairs. A wheelchair accessible toilet is available.
The charity Beach Wheelchairs has all-terrain wheelchairs for hire, depending on availability. Find out more at www.beachwheelchairs.org
Dress appropriately for the weather and feel free to bring refreshments / picnic for after the walk.
