Hillwalking for beginners

Pentland Hills from Haddington or Musselburgh

A half day introduction to hillwalking in the glorious Pentland Hills

Date:  Friday August 28, 2026

Time:  9.30am to 2.30pm

Meet:  Haddington Corn Exchange, Musselburgh Sports Centre

With:  Over the Scottish Hill

The Pentland Hills are situated overlooking the city of Edinburgh, giving fantastic views both over the city and of the rest of the hill range. This walk is an introduction to hillwalking for adults with a reasonable level of fitness. The pace will be gentle and supportive with stops on the way, hopefully to admire the view!

There is a path all the way round and the terrain is a mix of grass, rock and some scree. The overall height gain is just over 300 metres and the distance is 6.5 km / just over 4 miles.
