Explore the coastline of North Berwick and find out about the area’s history with local guide Kevin Hunter of Walks Upon A Time
Date: Wednesday September 3rd, 2025
Time: 10 am to 12 noon and 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm
Meet: Seabird Centre
With: Walks Upon A Time
Starting on the Kirk Ness (site of the Seabird Centre) we will look at its early history, religious significance and of course witches before heading down into the historic harbour with its views across the Forth and its islands.
From there the aim is to head back along the East Beach discussing the historic uses of the shoreline before ending the walk at Castle Hill and perhaps climbing it to take in the view across the town and Bass Rock.
Afterwards we will walk back into town for a cup of tea or coffee at Number 12.
Be prepared to walk over rough terrain as there are ups and downs with steps, beach and inclines involved.
What to bring
This is Scotland so people should be prepared for the weather to be changeable. Wear a pair of sturdy shoes, pack a jacket and have some water.
More information
The walks will be suitable for well-behaved dogs that are kept on a lead.
Mostly the walk is suitable for able-bodied folk who are used to walking over rough terrain.
