Prestonpans and Cockenzie loop

Preston, Seton and Gosford

Start / finish : Prestonpans railway station

Length : 6 km / 3.5 miles

Gentle walk on good surfaces

A lovely walk taking in the history and heritage of Prestonpans and Cockenzie.

Starting at Prestonpans railway station and the miners memorial, passing the battlefield site, the route picks up the historic Wagonway route into Cockenzie.

There’s the opportunity to explore Cockenzie House and the harbour area before heading back westwards, past the site of the Cockenzie Power Station and back into Prestonpans.

Climb the hill back to the station with a short side trip to see the restoration of historic Preston Tower.

No public toilets on this route but refreshments available in cafes in Prestonpans and Cockenzie, including at Cockenzie House.

Walkability

Mostly on pavements, except the Waggonway section which is a surfaced path.
