Gentle stroll of about 1.5 hours around the town centre of Dunbar, exploring our linen and flax heritage
Explore the linen and flax heritage of Dunbar and East Lothian with Journeys in Design. This walk is offered as part of the current Flax Futures exhibition in John Muir’s Birthplace, Dunbar.
Your guide, Dr John Ennes, will take you through the historical significance of flax, grown for generations in Scotland, and the linen it produces. He is also passionate about its future role in supporting new designs and initiatives and tackling climate change. This walk is for everyone, expert or enthusiast, with an interest in local heritage.
Walk starts and finishes at John Muir’s Birthplace Museum, meandering through the town centre.
Gentle stroll along pavements.
Finish around 4pm, allowing for 6 or 7 stops along the way.
