Family coastal walk with Wilder

Dunbar

A fun family walk exploring the coast from Winterfield Park to Belhaven Bay, west of Dunbar.

Date: Sunday August 31st 2025

Time: 10 am to 12.30 pm

Meet: Winterfield Park, Dunbar

With: Wilder

Join Wilder for a fun, family coastal walk from Winterfield Park, along the clifftop trail and down to the rocky shores that lead us to our end point at Belhaven Beach and the Belhaven Surf Centre.

We’ll be making stops along the way to take in the summer sights, sounds and smells of nature – colourful and fragrant wildflowers, sunbathing seals, diving gannets, a play on the beach and a low tide rockpool ramble (weather permitting).

Maximum of 2 children per adult.

What to bring

• Suitable clothing and footwear – make sure you have waterproofs, sunscreen and spare socks in your backpack.

• Drink and a snack

• Binoculars (not essential but useful!)

• A bag or bucket for beachcombed treasures

More information

• Due to the varied terrain of this walk, children should be capable of walking independently at a reasonable pace for the activity time.

• A maximum of 2 children to accompany each adult

• Accompanying adults should be able to assist children at all times and should be comfortable moving over uneven terrain and potentially slippy surfaces e.g. pebble beach, steps, seaweed on rocks.

• Well behaved dogs can join the walk providing they are kept on a lead and owners can safely supervise children whilst handling your dog.

• Please ensure you have brought any essential medication e.g. inhalers, epipen if required

Getting there

Free parking at Winterfield Park. Easy access for local families to walk or cycle. Bus routes to/from to Dunbar can bring you within a 5 min walk of starting location. At the end, local bus services can be joined 5 minutes from the surf centre.
