Starting from the most northerly point of East Lothian, the wonderful Yellowcraig, we will walk along the beach to North Berwick taking in the stunning views of the Forth islands, including Fidra, Craigleith and the Bass Rock along the way.
Upon reaching North Berwick we will head inland through the town following the John Muir Way. The route skirts the foot of North Berwick Law before passing through farmland and on to the Balgone Estate with its beautiful lakes and historic buildings.
As we continue along the Way, we will pass through a variety of landscapes including farmland, woodland and a riverside path, before walking into East Linton and the end of this first stage of the Cross-County Challenge!
What to bring
Boots and waterproofs are essential. Bring a snack for morning coffee break and a packed lunch, a hot drink and sufficient water to keep hydrated, at least 1 litre. Also a mat or plastic sheet to sit on. We will not be stopping at cafes en route.
